Stock takers ( stock valuers) are needed for two main business criteria. First to count the value of stock when a business is sold and the buyer and the seller of the business need an unbiased expert to assess the value.Secondly, many business clients appoint professional stocktakers to monitor and count their stock every month, six months or on June 30 each year for tax purposes.

The stocktaker/stock valuer counts each item of stock, cross relates it to the invoiced cost to the owner from suppliers and produces a print- out of the total cost value of the stock inventory. This figure then becomes the closing stock figure in the balance sheet of the business tax returns, or in the case of a sale becomes the value of stock which is purchased at settlement by the buyer from the seller.

The cost of a stocktake is usually costed on a small percentage of the value of the stock counted. Where the stocktake is in a regional or remote location there will be travel expenses and accommodation to be taken into account, but rest assured that Stephen Moore and the team at Associated are very reasonable in their fee structure and offer a totally professional stocktake.
